BMX Bikes from the Past pt.2

As mentioned in my previous post, the HUTCH Pro Raider would be the last BMX Racing frame I would own. That's because shortly after having that bike I moved to Pasadena, CA. and met some Freestylers, from that point forward my BMX life as I knew it was changed forever.

It was 1984, I had moved to Pasadena, and started my freshman year at John Muir High School. It was the biggest school I had ever attended, and one morning I noticed a couple of guys riding there BMX bikes across the campus doing wheelies. I ran over to the bike cage where they were locking up there bikes and introduced my self. I can't remember all of the names, but I'll never forget Nick. Nick was a Filipino guy that rode a chrome 84 GT Pro Performer like the on in the picture above. I met up with them again after school and just watched as Nick and his friends would do tricks on there bikes, tricks like front endos, front & rear pogos, and tailwhips. It was some of the coolest stuff I had seen done on a bike. I became good friends with the guys, and over the course of time met more guys from nearby neighborhoods that also rode freestyle bikes. This was one of the Best places to live at the right time to learn BMX Freestyle! (to be continued)
