If you hear the word "BMX", what comes 2 mind? I suppose it depends on who you ask. As 4 me? I think of a 20" bike. Then I think of the many different styles of 20" bikes and the types of things that a rider would do on them.
Back in the day, when I first started riding BMX, it represented a new beginning. It changed the person I was, into the person that I would become...forever!
I was 7 years old when I got my 1st BMX bike, and it looked nothing like the BMX bikes of 2day. It was a Schwinn Stingray that was Midnight Blue with Red and White Racing Stripes. It had huge handle bars and a banana seat, as well as fenders! I can still remember my dad teaching me how 2 ride that bike on our street back in 1977. Once I knew how 2 ride by myself, that was it! I was hooked!!!
Fast Forward 2 1984, BMX has evolved, and now has another form known as BMX Freestyle! This new style offers up an exciting and fresh artistic outlet for many young riders like myself.
My first exposure 2 BMX Freestyle took place in Pasadena,CA. where I met a couple of guys doing tricks on their bikes. Not just jumps and wheelies, but front and rear wheel pogos, rock-walks and others that amazed me back then.This would be the moment in time when, just like that day I learned 2 ride my bike, I would be forever changed.
